Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Virtual Instructional Design Consultant to join our team. This remote position requires a creative and innovative professional who is passionate about creating engaging and effective learning experiences. As a Virtual Instructional Design Consultant, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing instructional materials that meet the needs of diverse learners across various industries. You will work closely with subject matter experts (SMEs), educators, and stakeholders to create impactful learning solutions that drive success and support organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Instructional Design and Development:
- Design and develop high-quality instructional materials, including e-learning courses, virtual training programs, job aids, and other learning resources.
- Utilize a variety of instructional design models and methodologies (e.g., ADDIE, SAM, Agile) to create content that meets the specific needs of the target audience.
- Develop interactive and multimedia-rich content using e-learning authoring tools such as Articulate 360, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia, and similar software.
- Ensure that instructional materials are aligned with learning objectives, meet accessibility standards, and are suitable for various delivery platforms (e.g., LMS, mobile devices).
- Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:
- Collaborate with SMEs to gather and analyze content requirements, ensuring that the instructional materials are accurate, relevant, and up-to-date.
- Work closely with project managers, educators, and other stakeholders to understand project scope, timelines, and deliverables.
- Facilitate virtual meetings and workshops with cross-functional teams to discuss instructional strategies, course design, and feedback on prototypes.
- Act as a liaison between the instructional design team and stakeholders to ensure alignment and satisfaction with the final product.
- Content Review and Quality Assurance:
- Conduct thorough reviews of instructional materials to ensure accuracy, consistency, and quality.
- Apply best practices in instructional design, adult learning principles, and visual design to enhance the learning experience.
- Continuously evaluate and improve instructional materials based on learner feedback, assessment data, and industry trends.
- Ensure that all learning materials comply with organizational standards, branding guidelines, and accessibility requirements (e.g., WCAG 2.1).
- Project Management and Documentation:
- Manage multiple instructional design projects simultaneously, ensuring that all deliverables are completed on time and within budget.
- Maintain detailed project documentation, including design plans, storyboards, and evaluation reports.
- Provide regular updates to project managers and stakeholders on project progress, challenges, and solutions.
- Participate in post-project evaluations to identify areas for improvement and share lessons learned with the team.
- Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
- Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in instructional design, e-learning, and adult education.
- Explore and experiment with new tools, platforms, and methodologies to enhance the learning experience.
- Propose and implement innovative instructional strategies that leverage the latest developments in digital learning and instructional technology.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of instructional design processes, templates, and best practices.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in instructional design, e-learning development, or a related field.
- Proven experience designing and developing e-learning courses, virtual training programs, and other instructional materials.
- Proficiency with e-learning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate 360, Adobe Captivate) and graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
- Strong understanding of instructional design models, adult learning principles, and assessment strategies.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Experience working in a remote or virtual environment is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in designing instructional materials for various industries, including corporate, healthcare, education, or government sectors.
- Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) and content management systems (CMS).
- Certification in instructional design or e-learning development (e.g., CPTD, ATD Certification) is a plus.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards and best practices in e-learning design (e.g., WCAG, Section 508).
